Last Thursday, the Student Life Centre was packed with innovation at EntSoc’s Startup Showcase!
The Great Hall featured over 30 startups and entrepreneurial organizations. Many of EntSoc’s partners were also on site, spreading information about their programming with students interested in entrepreneurship.
Students and attendees were encouraged to travel from booth to booth to learn about the startups and entrepreneurial organizations, in an effort to fill out their event passport — which was the ticket to a free pizza lunch and their chance at a Pebble Smartwatch.
Highlights included the St. Paul’s Greenhouse’s delicious cookies, Babylon VR’s popular virtual reality demos and the 3D artifacts of Lani Labs. The up and coming interactive virtual tour company, Insight Aerial, was also a big attraction, and both PumpUp and ShiftRide were also popular stops. Our friends at the Velocity booth didn’t sit down for the entire showcase and Startup Laurier’s presence promoted collaboration between the two schools.
There was great mix of hardware, software and science company booths, which allowed students to find out more about a wide range of local products and companies in addition to to networking with founders, hearing from their experiences, and learning about how they operate.
To be involved in our next Startup Showcase, please contact us and we’ll make sure you’re on the list!
